Kowal Investment Group brings retirement-focused planning to Madison

MADISON, Wis. (October 7, 2016)―When Jeff Kowal went into business back in 1987, he made the decision that he would concentrate solely on helping his clients plan for and build the retirement of their dreams. Three decades later, Kowal Investment Group is widely recognized as one of the top advisory firms in the state of Wisconsin, and has been instrumental in shaping the post-work financial picture of thousands of families. The firm, which is based out of Waukesha, recently announced that it will be joining forces with long-time Madison area financial advisors, The Hayward Group. Both practices are associated with Raymond James Financial Services (RJFS), and share a philosophy that emphasizes personalized service and attention to detail.

“Jeff and I have known each other for over 30 years,” said John Hayward, CFP®, CFS®, of The Hayward Group. “When he mentioned his interest in expanding to serve the retirement planning needs of folks in the Madison area, it was a natural decision for us to merge.” Kowal echoed the sentiment that the fit is a good one. “Both of our firms are family-owned, and are committed to the same core values. John and his team will continue to provide the same high level of service to clients, but now they’ll also have the added benefit of our experience, scale, and insight.”

Kowal Investment Group is an independent contractor division branch of RJFS in Wisconsin, and Jeff Kowal has been named a Top Advisor by the prestigious financial publication Barron’s for the past three years. It’s an honor that goes only to those who are in the top 1% of financial advisors in a given state. This year, Kowal was also named to the 2016 Financial Times 400 Top Financial Advisors, but downplays the importance of such awards. “The recognition is nice,” he says. “But the real value lies in the fact that it confirms our team’s core philosophy: When our clients do well, we do well.”

The Madison branch of Kowal Investment Group will operate from the same location that housed The Hayward Group, at 6727 Frank Lloyd Wright in Middleton.

Accolades such as Barron’s “Top Financial Advisors” List are independently determined and awarded by their respective publications. Barron’s “Top 1,200 Advisors” is an annual ranking that represents the top 1% of advisors in each state with substantial practices, and includes advisors at major Wall Street corporations as well as independent firms. The rankings are based on assets under management, revenues generated by advisors for their firms, and quality of practices. In evaluating advisors, Barron’s examines regulatory records, internal company documents and extensive questionnaires filled out by the advisors themselves.

“The Financial Times 400 Top Financial Advisors” is an independent listing produced by The Financial Times (March, 2016). The “FT 400″ is based on data gathered from firms and verified by broker/dealer home offices, regulatory disclosures, and the FT’s research. The listing reflects each advisor’s performance in six primary areas, including assets under management, asset growth, compliance record, experience, credentials and accessibility as identified by the FT. Neither the brokerages nor the advisors pay a fee to The Financial Times in exchange for inclusion in the “FT400”.
